Information changes a sail's wind on strong tides. Where is that information coming from? More accurately, what is the perception of that information before, during and after it is utilized? There area few ways knowledge can be attained; 1) Education from one person to another. 2) Learning through observation. 3) Taking third party hearsay and believing it. Each one on its own could lead an individual down the wrong path. Mixing and matching helps solidify fact from fiction.

Perception is a powerful tool, if it is being operated correctly. Take emotion out of this equation. Forgot for a moment that the ideas you have conjured up were figured through your own devices. Look at each side from fresh eyes. A great way to see fact from fiction is take what you perceive as helpful advice and see how it is assisting others around you. Is the perceived advice advance those who gave the advice, you, or others around you following same said advice?

The greatest success will come with what is learned, researched, and changed up to become the best version of itself. If in three years no higher ground has been reached from doing any task over and over again, something must be changed up. Becoming great at a skill is not the same as success in life. Entertainers, career people, or business, must constantly be evolving into new territory. Performing the same clubs, working the same position, still broke after three years; changed things up.

1. Have you ever been successful? Are you successful right this moment? Are you making a living in the position you want in life, and are you happy? If you answered “no” to any, or all, of those questions then you have no knowledge on how to become successful. Accept and change accordingly.

2. Research your field of interest. Your research should be mixed with how that field works to improve your skill. At the same time, how does the business side of your field of interest work. Knowing the ins and outs of a specific field will help greatly when It comes to finding success.

3. Think outside the box. If you are interested in being a comedian, look into how running a Donut Shop works. Or visa versa, if you own a business, look into how a famous comedian made it. In these different paths you will find similarities which will help you focus on correct necessities.

4. No matter how good you are, it is never about being the best. How you treat yourself, and people around you, is just as important as controlling your financial income/outcome and overhead. While being aware of those ideas, running a business properly creates longevity.

5. Instead of hoping to get discovered by handing your information to a person of interest the moment you meet them, begin by building friendships. This act will open up lasting relationships that a “by-product” would otherwise cancel opportunities or deter that individual(s).

Where once there was no opportunity a quest has opened up with a plan set before you! A foundation will create a concrete ground to stabilize your fearlessness to say YES! During this time you are Networking, Marketing and Practicing your heart out. The passion is growing, but nothing seems to be happening. It will not happen right now while you are building up your foundation. Your job right now is to do little to nothing with your dream. That is correct, you are not ready to do anything with your dream: be it buy a house, be an actor, tell some jokes, or even start investing. This time is dedicated to your 3 Needs of Success. What else could you be doing to keep your motivation up? Research, Research, Research, and learn every aspect of the field you want to be involved in.

From those who mastered your field to the little start companies within your interest of passion. The truth hides in their effort. Questions like “How did they get there” and “What were they doing to make this happen” are all powerful starting points. Know who you are going to be involved with. You may not be directly involved with them, but working in the same business as they do, or somehow you might be associated with them through a long line of degrees leading to one day crossing their paths, or even places and people they may have been in contact with. Know what and who people are. Educate yourself with a plethora of knowledge to store up correct tools to be prepared in any networking situation.

As you learn who these people are, begin your reach out program. Set S.M.A.R.T. Goals to organize your time properly. Start by sending one email out a day to introduce yourself to these people. Utilize the 3 paragraph formula that we will go over in the next few weeks. For now, start setting time aside to contact people. Another action should be getting post cards to send out to get your brand in their hands. Post cards are also a great way to say thank you to someone after a meeting, or a run in. Or even a great phone conversation. Build those relationships, and start making the correct steps to get your brand in their heads while learning who these people are and what they do. Never run into a desert without enough water, and know where that desert will lead you!
