A class on class : Crossing the line

Today's Tip • A class on class : Crossing the line

There will be times when a customer, fan, or even a fellow employee ends up not figuring out certain social cues. “No” is always “No”. What is crossing the line? Being inappropriate to their personal space is one very certain clue a person has crossed the line. Let's suppose someone asks for a phone number and the response is NO. Then, they show up to a public place, because that person checked around knowing they would be there... Way over the line. There is no space for error, a person crossing the line is a very big problem. Protect yourself.

Let others know that it happened. Also, introduce people to that person who has crossed the line. You could even say things when introducing your friend to this individual, such as; “Oh, this is that person I was telling you about. This is my good friend.” The more people who know about the person being inappropriate, and the more people whom the inappropriate person knows knows, now knows them now, they will surely back off. Please, after the first true warning to these people of being inappropriate happens; go to the police and fill out a report. Protect yourself.

Now, seeing others cross the line with you is one thing. Crossing the line yourself is another. Remember, networking starts with you. Being kind, and aware of social cues can help further your career in any field. Understand your limits. Your awkwardness can cause a rift between new individuals. Fairly stated, if you are trying to cause said rift, than by all means act inappropriate. However, you never know who someone is or knows. On the other hand, how you act to everyone can change the opinion of people involved. As the old saying goes “You can't please all the people...”
