Socializing With Social Media; Negative Comments!

Today's Tip – Socializing With Social Media; Negative Comments! -

Anyone who has their own business or company or even a Facebook account has dealt with this... NEGATIVE COMMENTS!!!

You need to take care of these things right away. You can't ignore them. Even deleting them doesn't help you because someone saw it. First thing first, you need to calm down. Not everyone will agree with you, or like you for that matter, so calm down. Chances are you won't though so before you go all crazy telling the poster or posters what idiots they are, call a friend. Let them respond without the anger you feel. They will still get the point across but without resorting to ALL CAPITAL LETTERS or some crazy thing.

You have to check any type of social media you use at least daily. To thank and respond to the people who interact with you that way as well as to police up the place. Blogs have anti spam at least to filter out posts, you still have to go in and check them from time to time to clean them out but it doesn’t need to be daily unless you get constant responses to what you write, if that's the case hire someone that just deals with internet media for you. Reverbnation, Youtube, blogs and fan pages, all of these can take up a lot of your time but you have to keep up on them or shut them down.

Here is what needs to happen. You have to respond to the comments, lack of response doesn't show people that you don't care it makes them think you never saw it in the first place, that’s bad. Next try to find out why the comment or comments were made. Maybe its a misunderstanding. Don't do this in the public forum and be polite. Just because they forgot what their mothers taught them doesn't mean you should. If you resolve them then go back to wherever it was posted and thank them for working it out with you, this lets people know it was dealt with and allows the original poster to thank you as well. Sometimes the person complaining is just doing so to get a rise out of you. Don't take the bait.

In that last case when the person badmouthing you or your company then you will still have to respond or you can simply ban them, unfriend them, delete them or report them. Then make a posting about how whatever behavior will not be tolerated, apologize to the other uses for the problems and move on without mentioning names or being petty. I know its hard but that’s what needs to happen. Like I said get a friend to do it if you have to.
